William Gear
Untitled 1947signed and dated
Private Collection to 2010
Produced two years before Gear exhibited with the influential Cobra movement, Untitled 1947 was painted whilst the artist was working in Paris where he lived for three years. Typically structural in character and strong in colour it references Gear's experimentation with the freer, dramatic approach of lyrical abstraction and preceded the first of a series of exhibitions with Gimpel Fils Gallery.
