Peter Haigh was born in Huddersfield in 1914 and trained as a textile sample dyer before service in the Second World War and studying at Heatherley's School of Art and Goldsmiths' School of Art. In the 1950s, Haigh exhibited paintings to critical acclaim at a number of important London galleries including Redfern Gallery, Wildenstein, Leicester Galleries, and Zwemmer Gallery. Following a period of three decades without exhibitions, his work was shown at the Pride Gallery, London, in 1988 and Galerie de Art, Valencia, in 1991. Haigh died in 1994, aged 80 years old.
